Lahore, Pakistan: Unimpressed by arguments of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee continues to follow ‘original’ version of Nanakshahi Calendar.
Where as the SGPC and the DSGMC marked 408th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Arjan Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru, on May 22, the PSGPC will be marking the day on June 16.
It is notable that SGPC and DSGMC follow amended version of Nanakshahi Calendar. The supporters of original version of Nanakshahi Calendar allege that the amended version of the Nanakshahi calendar is nothing more than masked revival of the Bikrami calendar.
As per information over five-hundred Sikh Yatris from Punjab and other parts of Indian subcontinent reached Pakistan on June 13 to attend the 408th martyrdom anniversary of the fifth Sikh Guru.
As per reports in Pakistani media the Sikh yatris were given a warm welcome at the Wagah border from where they will travel to the Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, Punja Sahib and finally Dera Sahib in Lahore where they will participate in the main event for the Shaheedi Gurbpurb.
The Pakistani administration has reportedly made special security arrangements, including walk-through gates, CCTV cameras and has issued special passes to law enforcers to insure no untoward incident takes place.
