Sikh man returning from USA arrested by Batala police from Delhi Airport

Batala, Punjab (November 29, 2013): It is learnt that Dera Baba Nanak police has claimed to have arrested a Sikh from Indira Gandhi International Airport Delhi when he returned to India from United States of America (USA) on November 27, 2013.

According to YesPunjab.Com: [g]iving information, SHO, Dera Baba Nanak police station, Gorakh Nath told that the accused, Prabjot Singh resident of village Saarchoor under Ghiana Ke Banger police station has been declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by Additional district and Session Judge Gurdaspur in 1997, was earlier arrested by Dera Baba Nanak police during an encounter with police at border village Shahpur Jajjan in 1988 while two of his companions Dharam Singh Khastiwal former President of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and Gurinder Singh alias Ghinda were managed to escape. The police had recovered one AK 47 Chinese riffle and some alive cartridges from him.

“SHO further told that in 1991, Prabjot managed get bail from Additional and Session Judge Gurdaspur and later he fled to USA but in 1997 he was declared proclaimed offender and then the police issued an LOC at various airports to apprehend him”, YesPunjab.com has reported.

The police had registered a case under section 174 CRPC against the accused and produced before Sub Division Judicial Magistrate Amita Singh, who reminded him into judicial custody for 14 days.
