Chandigarh: Sikh political prisoner Prof. Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar was released parole on Friday (3 April), Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur informed.
Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, who maintains list of Sikh political prisoners, said that Prof. Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar is released on 6 weeks parole.
The jail authorities keep Prof. Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar in a hospital from where he was released late last evening.

Notably, Sikh organisation are demanding release of Sikh political prisoners on parole or interim bail, in wake of fears of COVID-19 breakout.
Recently, the Indian Supreme court has also issued directions for decongestion of prisons.
The United Nations human rights chief has also called upon states to release political prisoners on priority in order to reduce load on jails in wake of coronavirus breakout.
