Sikh Political Prisoners Issue: Sikh youth body welcomes Punjab govt’s move; Seeks release of Prof. Bhullar

Amritsar: The Sikh Youth Front (SYF) has welcomed the efforts started by Punjab Government in response to Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s struggle for the release of political Sikh prisoners. In a written statement, SYF general secretary Papalpreet Singh said that the Punjab Government should secure premature release of political Sikh prisoners who have already served mandatory terms of their life imprisonment.

He emphasised that the case of Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar needs to be handled carefully.
He said that mere transfer of Prof. Bhullar from Delhi to Punjab was not sufficient, he said while adding that Prof. Bhullar has served two decades of his life in prison, so he should be released from jail.
He cautioned the Sikh masses to stay alert as Punjab government may tend to delay the release of concerned Sikh political prisoners at the pretext of legal difficulties.
