Sikh youth’s killing in police firing in Jammu- High Court directs Govt to file status report

Jammu: The state High Court of Jammu and Kashmir recently (on Nov. 21) directed state to file a status report in killing of a Sikh youth in police firing during protest at Satwari, Jammu within two weeks.

Twenty-three year old Shaheed Bhai Jasjeet Singh of village Chohala, RS Pura was killed as a result of Police firing during protests on 4 June 2015.

Justice Tashi Rabstan of J&K High Court Jammu wing after hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Abdul Rouf Lone appearing for the petitioner issued notice to Home Secretary, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, IGP Jammu, SSP Jammu and others returnable within two weeks and in the meanwhile directed respondents to file status report of the case.

The petitioners have sought direction to Deputy Commissioner Jammu not to finalise the enquiry being conducted by him into the incident which led to the death of an innocent youth as a result of police firing and causing grievous injuries to various persons. Direction to transfer the FIR from Police Station Satwari to CBI is also being sought.
