Hanumangarh, Rajasthan: A saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji was reportedly disrespected in Chakk 3 MOD area of Hanumangarh by a person named Shankar Bavri. The accused is a follower of dera Sauda, a Sirsa based anti-Sikh cult. The accused was booked by local Police under charges of religious sentiments under section 295 A.
It is noteworthy that accused Shankar on April 17 secretly brought a Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib to him house from a local Gurdwara Sahib when granthi of the concerned Gurudwara Sahib was away to Damdama Sahib on Vasakhi occasion.
When the Gurudwara Committee came to know that a Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib was missing from Gurdwara Sahib, they commenced search for it. Fearing being caught accused buried the Saroop.
S. Tejinderpal Singh Timma told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that Panj Pyares from Damama Sahib today visited Hanumangarh to meet the accused Shankar Bavri in police custody. S. Timma said that Shankar has admitted that he is follower of Sirsa Cult. He also said that the Gurudwara Committee and concerned Granthi are summoned at Akal Takhat Sahib for lack of supervision. ‘Police has also denied that Shankar is mentally ill’ he added.
Local organizations have called the next gathering on May 7 at Chakk 3 MOD to plan out the next steps.
