Mohali/ Jalandhar, Punjab (December 05, 2013): Punjabi singer Jazzy B has extended support to Bhai Gurbaksh Singh, who is observing fast unto death since November 14, 2013 seeking release of Sikh prisoners who have already served the terms of their sentences.
Jazzy B, wrote on the wall of his Facebook Fans Page: “Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa – Sikh Prisoner Release Campaigner who is on hunger strike in Punjab”.
“Bhai Sahib is on 17th DAY!! of protest hunger strike against Illegal confinement of Sikhs in Indian Jails and is demanding their release”, the post (posted on December 01), reads further.
Jazzy B, who about 9,26,793 fans on facebook further writes:
“He (Bhai Gurbaksh Singh) has endured 17 days of no food and now is understandably very weak. Please do 2 things,
1. Please share this post with all your friends and make them aware of Bhai Sahibs Cause.
2. Please do Ardas for Bhai Sahib to stay in Chardi Kala and may his cause to release illegally detained Sikh prisoners be successful”.
The post has already hit 7865 likes, while it has been shared 1,112 times by various facebook users.
It may be recalled that Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is on hunger strike since November 14 seeking release of five Singhs, namely – Bhai Gurmit Singh, Bhai Shamsher Singh, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh (who are confined in Burail Jail, Chandigarh since 1995), Bhai Lal Singh (who was arrested in 1992 by Gujarat police and is currently confined in Nabha, Maximum Security Jail) and Bhai Gurdip Singh (who is confined in Gurbarg Jail, Karnataka for the last 23 years). These individuals have served their terms of sentence but have not been released by the respective state governments.
As per latest information the team of doctors who routinely visit and examine Bhai Gurbaksh Singh has confirmed that his health condition has started deteriorating.
The concerned governments have turned blind eye on these developments.
Few days back Kuljinder Sidhu, actor and producer of Sadda Haq Punjabi movie, and Punjabi comedian-turned politician Bhagwant Mann had visited Gurdwara Amb Sahib Mohali to inquire about well being of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh. Both artists had lend their support to Bhai Gurbaksh Singh and the cause of Sikh prisoners.
