It is notable that the Gurmukhi Script for Punjabi language was organised by second Sikh Guru, Guru Angad Ji. It has 35 alphabets and variousĀ laga-matras. This script is used to write Punjabi language in east Punjab. It is also used for Punjabi globally by the Sikhs and in many Western countries Gurmukhi is used as script of Punjabi language for their official work. The fact that Guru Granth Sahib is in Gurmukhi gives a sacred touch to this script.
