Patiala (January 11, 2009): The Sikh Students Federation has expressed deep anguish, grief and has condemned the killing of a teenage student Inayat Khan of Dalgate who sustained bullet injuries at Budshah Chowk and succumbed to the injuries at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of medical sciences (SKIMS), when he was returning back to home from tuition class. SSF has also demanded probe into the murder of Inayat at the hands of Indian troopers.
In a statement issued by its’ General Secretary, Baljeet Singh, the Sikh Students Federation has expressed its sympathy with the bereaved family and demanded the probe so that the perpetrators of this incident are brought to justice and this cycle of uncertainty be ended as it has impacted negatively on the future of hundreds of thousands Students of Kashmir.
“According to Law, in India, every homicide is either murder or culpable homicide unless the case falls in few exceptional provisions. In any case each homicide should be investigated after registration of a case.” said Parmjeet Singh Gazi, a Law student of Punjabi University, Patiala and President of SSF. “Those agitating in Kashmir to ensure that the matter is probed thoroughly are doing nothing more than exercising their democratic rights and are justified in doing so.” he added.
