Stop patronising gangsters: Sikh youth of Punjab warns political parties of Punjab

May 5, 2016 | By

Hoshiarpur, Punjab: Stating that the mafia and gangsters were spreading their tentacles fastly all over the region, the Dal Khalsa and its youth wing Sikh Youth of Punjab (SYP) said the ruling Akali Dal and its police have lot to answer to public about the brazen acts and designs of gangs operating from within and outside the jails.

Senior activist of Dal Khalsa Ranbir Singh and office bearers of SYP Paramjit Singh Tanda, Manjit Singh and Gurpreet Singh said mainstream political parties nourish and patronize youth with a criminal bent of
mind only to get their services in return at the time of elections.

They wondered as to why the force that always thump its chest for its so-called successes in militant related operations have worn “velvet gloves” while containing the unorganized mafia and gangsters. To drive their point home, they said without any political patronization and police nexus, these goons can’t have a field day.

We are not provoking the force to show their brutality as the cops were infamous for using tyrannical tactics nor do we subscribe to any unlawful methods. We simply want the rule of law to prevail, said they.

If the criminals and goons were to run their crime syndicate and drug business safely from behind bars than what’s the use of wasting public exchequer on them. They said public was fully aware that jails have
become safe-dens for them. “It is an open secret that plump posts in jail departments are source of hefty earnings”, said Ranbir Singh.

They were of the view that the youth was already in the octopus-like grip of different kinds of alcohol and drug abuse. Now, the exposure of goonda culture would further disturb their lives.

From BJP to Akali Dal to Congress, all have been providing political shelter to goons and anti-social elements. Expressing their concern that the situation might turn from bad to worse, they said elections were around the corner and as usual the muscle-power of gangsters and ill-gotten money of drug lords would be pumped in to lure the voters.

Pointing the grim picture of lawlessness, they said, “the daylight kidnapping of 7 year old girl Shanvi Gupta in Patiala, the gruesome killing of 14 years old Kapurthala boy Jaskirat Singh, suicide by
Inderpal Singh Ahuja of Ludhiana and Joga Singh from Jagraon due to police harassment, numerous sexual assaults against women and continued incidents of suicide by farmer’s speaks of the sorry state of affairs.

They said the gangsters were getting massive publicity in media , which was in fact helping them as misguided and unemployed youth have started looking upon them as “heroes” and getting easily attracted towards their lavish lifestyle.
