Dera Baba Nanak: A wind-storm reportedly damaged “Darshan Sthal” at Dera Baba Nanak Indo-Pak border. Darshan Sthal was a temporary structure formed at India-Pakistan border at Dera Baba Nanak to help Sikh devotees to see Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, which is located in Pakistan.

According to media reports a wind-storm hit the Darshan Sthal last evening. The roof of Dharshan Sthal went off and other parts also got damaged. The wind-storm also affected supply of electricity in this area as many electricity poles got uprooted.

It is notable that Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib is located at few miles distance from Dera Baba Nanak on India-Pakistan border. There has been a long pending demand of Sikh sangat to provide free passage to the Sikh devotees to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib. Despite positive response from the Pakistan government in this regard, there is no progress on the proposed corridor as the Indian government maintains certain reservations on this issue.
