Bathinda, Punjab (March 13, 2014): As per media reports Election Commission’s action regarding complaint against Punjab director general of police (DGP) Sumedh Singh Saini is still not over. The matter is with the election commission and the commission has to take the decision.
Punjab chief electoral officer V K Singh who was at Bathinda on Tuesday (March 11) to take stock of preparations of the election process and said any complaint regarding poll process including that of Sumedh Saini will be dealt with utmost care and we will ensure free and fair elections at all cost.
According to Chief Election Officer of Punjab the Bathinda parliamentary constituency is hyper-sensitive category, not only in the state, but across the country especially on expenditure front and more observers will be deputed here than other constituencies.
It may be recalled that the Congress party had moved to Election Commission of India seeking transfer of Punjab’s DGP during elections as he is considered close confident Punjab’s ruling party. The opposition party fears that Sumedh Saini, who is also facing criminal cases in CBI court, would use unfair means to befit his political patrons during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
