Sikh professor of Columbia University attacked in apparent hate crime

New York, US (September 23, 2013): It is learnt that a Columbia University Sikh professor was assaulted on Saturday (21 September) night in what police say is being investigated as a hate crime.

London: Teenage girl (19) arrested for attack on elderly Sikh man (80)

London, England (August 19, 2013): According to certain media reports an young girl, aged 19m attacked on an 80-year-old Sikh man in London. The girl has reportedly been arrested for the attack which took place earlier this week.

US Sikh body welcome US Government’s support on the eve of Oak Creek Tragedy

Washington, August 3, 2013; As per a press release by Sikh Council on Religion and Education (SCORE), a copy of which is available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), the Sikh community in US has welcomed the US Attorney General’s support to help those who are still suffering from the effects of the Oak Creek tragedy and appreciates the decision of the Justice Department to start tracking the hate crimes against Sikhs in the United States.

Washington, Untied States (August 04,2013): It is learnt that the US Justice Department announced it will begin tracking crimes committed against Sikhs and six other groups as hate crimes. An announcement in this regard came on August 02, 2013 - ahead of anniversary of the Oak Creek Sikh Gurdwara tragedy on August 05, 2013.

US: Man pleads guilty to Federal Hate Crime in attack on Sikh man

Washington, United States (June 28, 2013): It is learnt that he US Department of Justice (USDJ) announced in a statement released on 27 June, 2013 that Jamie Larson, 49, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Seattle to a federal hate crime relating to a racially-motivated assault of a 50-year-old Sikh man who works as a taxi cab driver.

US: Sikh Caucus members build support for Sikh hate crime tracking

Washington, DC (May 21, 2013): It is learnt that a bipartisan group of 23 members of the U.S. Congress, representing the American Sikh Congressional Caucus, have written to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), requesting that the agency begin tracking hate crimes against Sikhs, the way it does for other communities.

Elderly Sikh attacked outside Fresno Gurudwara; Sikh Congressional Caucus takes up the issue with FBI

California, United States (May 11, 2013): It is learnt that an elderly Sikh named Piara Singh was attacked few days back at Fresno Gurdwara in California. Piara Singh (82) was returning from the Gurudwara Sahib when he was hit by a youth with iron rod in an apparent hate crime.

49-years-old man charged with hate crime in brutal assault on a Sikh in US

Seattle, United States (April 03, 2013): According to media reports a US Federal Grand Jury in Seattle has indicted a man named Jamie Larson (49) from Washington on charges of hate crime against a 50-year-old Sikh.
