Private Body Moves to Get Trade Mark of Sikh Martial Art Gatka; WGF and NGAI Object Strongly

The National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) and World Gatka Federation (WGF) have strongly condemned the move by a private proprietor limited firm for getting registration of patent of trade mark of Sikh martial art and Gatka and said Gatka is an ancient traditional art inherited from Sikh Gurus and nobody has any right to get it patented.

2nd Punjab state Gatka Championship commences at Machhiwara

Two days Punjab state Gatka Championship (men & women) at Machhiwara (Ludhiana) begun on Agusut 16. About 500 Gatka players from 17 districts' teams are participating in this tournament under 14, 17, 19, 22 and 25 years events in single soti, farri-soti and weapons demonstration.

Asian Gatka cup to be held in next February in Malaysia

Patiala, Punjab (August 03, 2014) : With a view to promote martial art Gatka at international level, Asian Gatka Federation (AGF) has decided to organise its first Asian Gatka cup in February next at Malaysia. This was announced by AGF president S.P. Singh Oberoi during the concluding ceremony of three day Gatka refresher course held at Punjabi University Patiala.

Punjabi University to host inter-versity Gatka Tournament from Jan. 8

Chandigarh/ Punjab (December 29, 2013): It is learnt taht the Punjabi University Patiala will be hosting second all India Inter-University Gatka (Men & Women) tournament-2013 from January 8 to January 10, 2014 at university campus in which more than dozen university Gatka teams would participate.

Punjabi University Patiala launches one year diploma course in Gatka

Patiala, Punjab (October 20, 2013): It is learnt that with a view to inculcate depth and breadth of professional coaching in martial art Gatka, the Punjabi University Patiala have launched first of its kind one year diploma course in Gatka from this academic year under an MOU signed between the University and World Gatka Federation (WGF) recently.
