California (November 05, 2012): According to reports a Southern California school district has allowed Sikh students to wear the Kirpan in school. It is learnt that at least three high school students in the Jurupa Unified School District will be allowed to wear the approximately 2-inch Kirpan at school after ensuring certain safety measures.
Lahore/Pakistan (November 05, 2012): Rubabi Bhai Lal has passed away. He was 17th generation descendent of Bhai Mardana Ji – a companion of first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He was undergoing treatment in a hospital at Lahore as he had suffered a heart attack few days back.

Last weekend, I had the unenviable task of teaching Sikh children about the massacre in Oak Creek. The kids sat at picnic tables overlooking a lake at sunset at a summer camp in New York state. They chattered excitedly in anticipation of the evening campfire that was to follow. I stood in front of them trying to compose my thoughts, wondering if children in elementary school could even comprehend what happened. I stroked my beard nervously, looked around the class and decided to find out what the kids already knew.

Washington/USA (November 10, 2011): President Barack Obama sent greetings to the Sikh community worldwide on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev ji's 342nd birth-anniversary today. Sikhs are marking today the birth anniversary of their own founder, Guru Nanak, born in 1469 and it is the fifth largest religion with 26 million adherents worldwide.
Chandigarh, PUNJAB (April 10, 2011): Punjab Police has registered F.I.R No. 26 (dated April 06, 2011) at police station SAS Nagar, Phase 8 regarding an incident (dated: March 28, 2011), in which Dastar (turban) of a Sikh was deliberately removed by SHO Kulbhushan Sharma, at the instance of his senior S.P. (D) Pritam Singh. Both accused police officers are charged with blasphemy (Section 295A of Indian Penal Code, 1860), and the matter has been referred to P. S. Gill, I.G. (Patiala range). Discrimination against different communities such as Sikhs, Christians, and Muslims is rampant in India and it’s spreading like plague. No doctor can cure this disease, and no miracle cure is possible. Different types of discrimination are prevalent in India such as religious discrimination, racism, nationality, social status etc. The Sikhs are discriminated on racial, linguistic and religious lines.
