25th acquittal in a row: Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu acquitted in Ropar case

Ropar, Punjab (January 06, 2011): Bhai Daljit Singh, chairman of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani was acquitted today from false charges under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 by a trial court of Ropar, Punjab. Since he was first arrested in 1995 Bhai Daljit Singh has spent 12 years in prison without conviction. He was charged in 28 cases, of which he is acquitted in 25 cases while 3 are still pending. Most of the cases were political in nature and he is targeted due to his dissenting political ideology and activism

What are charges against Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu?

Ludhiana (December 10, 2010): During seminar on Human Rights Day Advocate Rajwinder Singh Bains gave information about current situation of cases against Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu. He informed that charge-sheet filed by police is just a bundle of waste papers and there is nothing substantial in it to support charges against Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu.

Panch Pardhani tendered memorandum to DC seeking release of it’s chairman

Activist of Shirmani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhnai) today submitted a memorandum to Deputy commissioner of Nawanshahr district seeking release of Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu and other leaders of Panch Pardhani arrested by the police allegedly at the instance of Punjab Government in wake of upcoming SGPC elections.

Custody of Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu and others in Ludhiana case is extended till 22 October.

Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu alone was produced before magistrate here in a case registered here against Bhai Bittu along with Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, Palwinder Singh Chattrana and Gurdeep Singh Raju.

Appearence of Bhai Bittu and Others in Ludhiana court is due on 8 October, 2009

hai Harpal Singh Cheema, Secretary General of Panch Pardhani Dal, informed SikhSiyasat Network that court appearance of Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu, Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, Palwinder Singh Chattrana and Gurdeep Singh Raju is due in Ludhiana court on October 8, 2009 as their judicial custody would on this date.

Judicial custody of Bhai Bittu and others extended till 7 October in Mansa Murder case.

As per information provided by Advocate Ajit Singh Bhangu and Advocate Lakhwinder Singh Kaliraun, Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, Prof. Gurbir Singh and Gurdeep Singh Raju are sent to judicial custody till 7 October 2009.

In an important meeting held over here yesterday, the SAD (A) Panch Pardhani has decided to launch district level protests against arrests of Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu and other leaders, members and even employees of Panch Pardhani.

Bhai Bittu’s custody extended till 8 October

Judicial custody of Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu, Chairman of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Panch Pardhani has been extended till 8th October, 2009 and he is sent back to Amritsar Jail. Earlier today the police brought Bhai Bittu from Amritsar Jail and produced before Magistrate at Ludhiana, who extended the custody for fourteen more days. In a strange move the Punjab Police did not bother to produce Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, Palwinder Singh Chattrana and Gurdeep Singh Raju before the Magistrate who are also framed by the Police along with Bhai Bittu under ULA(P) Act 1967.
