Amritsar, Punjab: Urging the Jathedar’s of all Takhts to shun the culture and practice of enjoying state security and privileges, the Dal Khalsa has asked the SGPC to provide them with adequate security guards keeping in view their respect and requirement.

Party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh expressed these views in the wake of controversy being courted at the withdrawal of security personal from Jathedar Balwant Singh Nanadgarh. He wondered as where was the need for Jathedars’ to have security personal and red beacon atop on their vehicles. He said contrary to popular perception, such government facilities lower their prestige and status and bring them at par with other politicians. He said the Jathedars’ who depend upon state privileges mostly succumb under pressure during testing times. He appealed to Jathedar’s of all Takhts to shun this culture and practice on their own instead of giving chance to Governments to twist their arms when it requires.

Kanwar Pal Singh was speaking at a gathering held to commemorate the 6th foundation day of the Sikh Youth of Punjab. The gathering was called to discuss and deliberate on vital issues pertaining to socio-religio concerns of Punjab and Panth.
