Taksal head meets Bhai Rajoana; Bibi Kamaljit Kaur seeks support of Sant Samaj in elections

Patiala, Punjab (February 13, 2014): It is learnt that Damdami Taksal head and chief of Sant Samaj Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma met Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana in Patiala jail on February 10, 2014. A day after that Bhai Rajoana’s sister Kamaldeep Kaur, who has decided to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Patiala, approached Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma and sought his support in the forthcoming poll.

According to Times of India (TOI): [i]n a letter addressed to [Baba] Harnam Singh, she has requested through him the entire Sant Samaj to support her in her effort to contribute to the Sikh community’s struggle.

“[Baba] Dhuma, chief of the most influential Sikh seminary Damdami Taksal, on Monday met Rajoana, who is sentenced to death for killing former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh. Damdami Taksal, in early 1980s, was headed by Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale” TOI news report reads.

As per media reports Bibi Kamaljit Kaur has confirmed that she approached Baba Harnam Singh Dhuma after her brother had deliberated with him in Patiala jail.

According to TOI Bhai Rajoana had requested Baba Dhuma to extend the support of Sikh religious organizations to his sister in her political endeavour.
