Two Dera Sirsa Followers Reportedly Shot Dead at Jagera by Unidentified Persons

Chandigarh: As per media reports two Dera Sauda Sirsa followers were shot dead by unidentified persons in village Jagera in the police district Khanna. Duo, who were father and son, reportedly died on the spot.

According to reports in some online media sections, the incident took place on Saturday (Feb. 25) evening at around 8.00 PM. The assailants, said to be two in numbers, reportedly opened fire at a canteen of Dera Sauda Sirsa branch in Jagera village.

Those killed have been identified as Satpal Sharma (65) and his son Ramesh Kumar (35). The reasons behind the incidents were not known. Sub-inspector Ravinder Kumar, station house officer at Malaudh, reportedly told media that it could be a matter of personal rivalry “because the killers targeted only Satpal and his son, and did not hurt other dera followers sitting there”.

A news report by YesPunjab.Com (YP) notes: [t]he family is said to be a staunch follower of the dera and the father-son were regular at the dera canteen to perform [services].
