Amritsar/ Ludhiana: United Khalsa Dal (UAD) chief Bhai Mohkam Singh was reportedly released from Amritsar jail yesterday. He was arrested on February 27 by the Punjab police under preventive detention provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Cr. P.C.). At the time of his arrest he was heading towards Ludhiana to meet fasting Sikh activist Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa.

UAD chief was reportedly received outside Amritsar jail by his partymen and activists of Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwale (SYFB).

While talking to Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), Bhai Mohkam Singh criticized Punjab government for its alleged failure to release Sikh political prisoners languishing in Indian jails despite having completed minimum mandatory terms of their sentences. He slammed Badal government for imprisoning Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s son Ravinder Pal Singh Gogi.

“Its blatant violation of human rights that Punjab government has imprisoned Bhai Ravinder Pal Singh Gogi, who had come from USA to take care of his father”, he said.

Meanwhile, force-feeding of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa continues at Civil Hospital, Ludhaina where he is kept ‘under detention’ by the police.
