New Delhi: The recent arrests in the Bhima Koregaon case and charging the accused with the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) are clear violation of civil rights and a straight demonstration of the very character of a deep state, said A Sayeed, President Social Democratic Party of India.

He was responding to the arrests of activist Sudhir Dhawale, Lawyer Surendra Gadling, Dr. Shoma Sen Professor Nagpur University, and activists Rona Wilson and Mahesh Raut. They are arrested on the allegation of promoting enmity between different groups of people, only for the reason that they raised their voices for the favor of the marginalised and stood up for the depressed class of people.

A Sayeed, in a press statement (copy available with Sikh Siyasat News) said that the Prime Minister and BJP are trying to launch the pretty old and dirty card of terrorism to contain protests against their appeasement of upper class and big business giants. The government is afraid of the people’s dissent and looking for a way out to face the forthcoming elections. He warned the people to be cautious of further more foul plays from the side of the BJP government for remaining in power.
