UK: Two 1984 Related Sikh Websites Turn Inaccessible After Police Raids

September 20, 2018 | By

London: As per media reports emanating from England West Midlands police conducted raids on certain properties as part of their investigation into allegations of “extremist activities” in India.

Indian media outlets have covered this news with primacy and some have even tried to connect it with recently held annual conference of the Sikh Federation UK.

A statement issued by West Midlands Police over its Facebook page and Twitter handle reads: “Searches of a number of properties as part of a West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit (WMCTU) investigation into allegations of extremist activity in India and fraud offences have now concluded; the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, two Sikh websites- neverforget84.com and 1984tribute.com have turned inaccessible after the reports of police raids broke out. It was not clear that if the websites are blocked by British authorities or they have gone down due to some other reason.

A browser call to 1984tribute.com gets “forbidden” response which says: “Forbidden. You don’t have permission to access / on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

NeverForget84.com shows a message: “WWW.NEVERFORGET84.COM. THIS WEBSITE IS NO LONGER ACTIVE“. It seems that the website url is accessible but it shows a message set on the homepage that the website is no longer active.

More details were awaited at the time of writing this news.
