Ludhiana: Irked by propaganda against the Punjab government over social media, the Badal government seems to have decided to act against relatives of NRI netizens.

The Punjab police have reportedly arrested a leader of ruling party’s own working committee, along with his relative, as his NRI son had posted some posts over social media criticising the SAD (Badal) government in Punjab.

According to a front-page news reported by a Punjabi vernacular (Rozana Pehredar) the police have booked ‘jathedar’ Pritam Singh Bharowal and his relative Jagdeep Singh (s/o Parminder Singh, r/o Binjal Raikot) in relation to a case framed u/s 294/506/120-B of IPC. Duo have been arrested by the police.

Notably Pritam Singh Bharowal’s son had allegedly posted a false news over social media that November 23 Bathinda rally of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) was cancelled.

The police alleges that the arrested persons were “making out false propaganda against the the government in order to instigate the people”, notes Rozana Pehredar.

The FIR is reportedly registered on the complaint of police officer Ashwani Kumar who says that both arrested persons had threatened him after he tried to stop them from making out such propaganda.
