Jalandhar, Punjab (November 22, 2013): All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) and victims of 1984 Sikh Genocide declared during a press conference held at Jalandhar on November 22, 2013 that they shall be a “Justice Rally” before UN Office in New Delhi on December 10 which is marked globally as the World Human Rights Day.
“The December 10 Rally by the AISSF before UN is to highlight the 29 years of denial of justice to victims and impunity to Congress leaders who orchestrated genocidal attacks on Sikhs after the death of Indira Gandhi” Karnail Singh Peermohammad, president of AISSF told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN).
He added that a delegation of 1984 Sikh Genocide victims and AISSF will urge Ms. Lisa Grande, UN Resident Coordinator-India, to report about “Congress party’s ongoing practice of protecting and rewarding its leaders who lead death squads in 1984” to the UN Human Rights Council. Federation will also submit to Ms. Grande, who heads UN team in India, a copy of the “Sikh Genocide Complaint” filed before the UN Human Rights Council, Geneva on November 01.
According to AISSF President Karnail Singh Peermohammad, victims will throng the UN office in Delhi on December 10 urging human rights council to investigate the country wide killing of Sikhs during November 1984 and recognize it as Genocide under UN Convention on Genocide. The rally before Delhi UN office on Human Rights Day will remind the global community that victims of 1984 Sikh Genocide have not received justice even after 29 years of systematic and organized killings of Sikhs, added Peermohammad.
It may be recalled that on November 01, 2013 a Sikh Genocide Complaint was filed before UNHRC by AISSF with the support of million signatures urging UN to investigate the systematic, intentional and deliberate killing of Sikhs carried out across India during the first week of November 1984 and to recognize these attacks as “Genocide”.
AISSF president said that the Sikh human rights groups have developed consensus that the recent discoveries of mass killings of Sikhs in more than 100 cities throughout India proves that November 1984 is Genocide as defined in Article 2 of the UN Convention on Genocide. The gravity, scale, organized and intentional nature of these genocidal attacks was concealed by the Indian governments by portraying them as “Anti-Sikh Riots of Delhi”.
“The recently discovered evidence shows that more than 37000 claims for deaths and injuries were filed by the victims of November 1984, out of which more than 20,000 claims were by victims who were attacked outside Delhi” he added.
