Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Parliamentary Sectary and Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader Virsa Singh Valtoha’s comments about Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar sparked strong criticism. Valtoha had reportedly alleged during a live TV show on July 09 that Dr. Ambedkar had spread the casteism. The TV channel had to stop the live telecast after the audience had reacted strongly against Valtoha’s comments.

The TV debate was being held at Amritsar. During the debate when Valtoha was confronted by a member from the audience that Badal Dal leaders were not living up to the Guru’s shabad of “Manas ki Jaat sabhe eko pehchanbo“, Valtoha squarely held Dr. Ambedkar responsible for fanning castism in India through reservation for different categories of scheduled castes.

Raj Kumar Verka MLA, AAP leader Major Singh and a BSP leader were also present in the said debate.

Reacting sharply to Virsa Singh Valtoha’s comments, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today said that Valtoha should immediately tender his apology for undermining the father of the constitution.

In a press release issued today AAP’s head of the SC/ST wing, Dev Mann termed the ‘outburst’ of Valtoha against Dr Ambedkar as highly ‘condemnable and deplorable’ said that he (Valtoha) owes an apology from entire Dalit samaj, as he not only only tried to undermine Dr Ambedkar, but the entire community.

AAP leader said that Valtoha has hurt the sentiments of entire “dalit” community and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal should explain whether he supports the views of Valtoha or he would immediately sack Valtoha for such a shameful act.

“If Valtoha will not submit his apology, AAP is ready to launch an extensive agitation in entire state”, Mann announced.

Valtoha must know that Dr Ambedkar’s work for the upliftment of the dalits was commendable and he was the person, who kept ample provisions in the Indian constitutions for the concerns and causes of Dalits, Mann said.
