Amritsar, Punjab (December 09, 2012): It is learnt that the Akal Takhat Sewak Jatha, comprising various Sikh bodies, has entered an accord with the Dera Radha Swami Beas to secure the re-construction of a Gurudwara Sahib at Village Waraich near Beas, Punjab. The Gurudwara Sahib was demolished by Dera Beas after purchasing the land from village Panchayat to secure the expansion of dera.
It is notable that Dera head had used his political links with the Badal regime that is currently in power in Punjab to secure cleat chit from Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) which is under the control of Badal Dal.
Endorsing upon the clean chit report of SGPC the Akal Takhat Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh had also granted immunity to the Dera Beas.
But various Panthic groups including Shiromani Akali Dal (Mann) and Panthic Sewa Lehar (Daduwal) had initiated a struggle against Dera Beas management to secure reconstruction of Gurudwara Sahib at it’s original place.
Radha Swami Dera Beas head Gurinder Singh Dhillon held various meetings with SAD (Amritsar) President Simranjeet Singh Mann and Panthic Sewa Lehar patron Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal. As per reports the last meeting with Gurinder Dhillon was attended by representatives of most of the participants of the Akal Takhat Sewak Jatha.
According to information initially the dera was offering the construction of Gurudwara Sahib at some other location and some participants of Akal Takhat Sewak Jatha were ready to accept the offer but others opposed the idea of relocation.
According to reports it has been agreed in the final settlement that the Gurudwara Sahib will be reconstructed at it’s original place.
It is also learnt that a five member observers’ committee is constituted to observe the reconstruction of Gurudwara Sahib. According to reports the committee shall comprise two nominees of SGPC, two nominees of Akal Takhat Sewak Jatha and one nominee of the dera Beas.
Some Panthic groups had reportedly dissented to the participation of dera beas nominee to the observers’ committee and they detached themselves from the final accord reported to have been enter among Sikh bodies and Dera Beas.
It is notable that it’s for the first time that the activities of Dera Beas were publicly exposed to such an extend that the dera had to address the media and finally retreat it’s position.
