Leicester: The leadership of Teer Group has won election for the management committee of Gurdwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib in Leicester. The polling was held on Sunday, Sept. 30. The candidates of Teer Group, led by group’s chairman Brinder Singh Bittu, won all seats in a poll contest said to be held in and environment of healthily competition. The Sher Group that was able to keep the sewa during last elections lost all seats this time.
Gurdwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib is one of the largest Gurdwara Sahibs in Europe with a pro-Sikh freedom stage. The Sewa of this Gurdwara Sahib had come to the hands of pro-freedom Sikh groups in 1984.
Teer Group’s S. Raj Manwrinder Singh Kang won the post of president; S. Gurnam Singh became vice-president and Mukhtiar Singh won the post of General Secretary. Sher Group’s prominent candidates were Bhai Mangal Singh and Kuldip Singh who had contested the election for the post of president and vice-president respectively but lost the contest.
