Khanna, Punjab (August 16, 2014): Punjab congress leader Sukhpal Khaira reportedly reached Khanna today to offer bail bond for Vikram Kumar, who had hurled shoe at Punjab chief minister Parkash SIngh Badal at Isru yesterday. But after SDM Ajay Soon denied bail to Vikram Kumar, Sukhpal Khaira urged Punjab chief mintier Parkash Singh Badal to release Vikram on moral grounds.

As per information Vikram Kumar has been booked under sections 107/151 of Criminal Procedure Code, which is said to be a “preventive clause”.

It is notable that Vikram Kumar, a youth from Dhanaula, threw a shoe at stage where Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal was addressing a state level function at Isru on August 15. Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) sources revealed that Vikram Kumar was soon captured by the police personnel in civil dress after the incident, but he was once released by the police after Parkash Singh Badal declared that he had “pardoned” the youth who threw shoe at him.

But Vikram Kumar was again held by police when he started giving statements to the media. Late last evening a senior police officer (Ludhiana range DIG) claimed that Vikram Kumar was an activist of the Aam Aadmi Party. During a press conference DIG said that Vikram Kumar was convenor of Dhanaula unit of AAP.

Vikram Kumar has been sent on judicial custody as the SDM has denied him bail.
