Chandigarh: As per a written release issued by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Adv. Jastej Singh Arora, Legal Head, AAP (Punjab) on Monday filed a complaint with Sh. V. K. Singh, Chief Electoral Officer, seeking a complete ban on the advertisements being played by SAD-BJP on various news channels.
Jastej Singh Arora has reportedly brought to the notice of the Election Commission that the advertisements being played by SAD-BJP such as ‘Jivay Punjab’, ‘Heritage Punjab’ etc on various news channels have been portrayed to be made by their own expenditure but the truth is that these advertisements were made by Public Relation (PR) Department of Punjab Government after spending crores of money out of the public fund and SAD-BJP have not spent even a single paisa on these advertisements from their own pocket.
The complaint mentions the corrupt practices and electoral offences perpetrated by SAD-BJP by playing superfluous and highly exaggerated advertisements on various news channels like PTC, ZEE (Punjabi), MH1, Fastway. Before the code of conduct was imposed these advertisements were being played by mentioning that the alleged works were done by the ‘Punjab Government’ but after the imposition of code of conduct the very same advertisements are being shown by mentioning that these works have been done by ‘SAD-BJP’ Govt.
“By misutilising and diverting the public funds Badal Government has not only engaged in corrupt practices and electoral offences but have also committed misappropriation of public fund. By showing the said advertisements to have been made from their personal expenses, SAD-BJP has broken the trust of the people of Punjab and for that reason the said advertisements should be completely banned from the television”, AAP maintained.
