AAP leader HS Phoolka questions Punjab CM Badal on somersault on SIT for 1984 cases

New Delhi: A press release by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and senior lawyer advocate HS Phoolka says [o]n 28th January 2014, S. Parkash Singh Badal made a statement in district Muktsar “hardly any need for it (SIT probe) as several earlier high-level inquiries conducted on the matter have pointed towards the role of Congress leaders in this planned mass massacre of Sikhs”.

“Punjab CM Badal was reacting to the statement made by Arvind Kejriwal then CM of Delhi that his government is forming SIT to probe and reopen cases closed by Police relating to 1984 riots. On 6th February 2014, the Delhi Cabinet under Kejriwal Leadership decided to form SIT with Police officers from outside Delhi Police” reads the release.

Advocate HS Phoolka says this SIT was opposed tooth and nail by CM Badal and his team. Due to this selfish agenda of Badals, the SIT formed by Kejriwal has been stopped for one year.

AAP leader says Arvind Kejriwal has promised me that the SIT ordered by him on 6th February 2014 would now be implemented at the earliest.

“Till now, there has been ten Commissions and Committees, but all of them had only recommendatory power. After their recommendation the final investigation of Criminal case was required to be done by Delhi Police only. But the SIT ordered by Arvind Kejriwal Government would have all the Powers of Police and would itself investigate Criminal cases and would file the Chargesheet in Court” said Phoolka.
