AAP flays RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s controversial statement, dubs it as a design to divide the country

Chandigarh, October 9

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has flayed the controversial statement made by  Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat while delivering a speech in Nagpur on the auspicious day of Dussehra, harping on his oft-quoted ‘India as the Hindu Rashtra’ rhetoric, reflecting his divisive agenda and communal bias.

In a joint statement issued from party headquarters on Wednesday, Principal Budh Ram, MLA and chairman of the party’s state core committee, MLA and party spokesman, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, said that RSS chief’s controversial statement was communal in tone and tenor and was against the tenets of the constitution of India, known for its secular character across the world.

Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that the statement of Mohan Bhagwat reflected his divisive ideology and that of the organisation, which, he said, was aimed at dividing the country and its people on the basis by issuing such anti-India statements. Sandhwan added that Bhagwat’s statement unmasked the real face of the BJP and the RSS and their double standards, saying that on the one hand the saffron party was enjoying the stint in power under oath of Constitution, while on the other, they were trying to undermine the sanctity of the Indian Constitution by issuing communal statements ought to divide the country.

Sandhwan had a piece of advice for the RSS chief, saying that he (Mohan Bhagwat) and his organisation should, instead of adopting divisive politics, should work tirelessly in tandem for the unity and integrity of the country in deference to the august traditions of the constitution.

Principal Budh Ram said Baba Dr Sahib Ambedkar had conceptualised the Indian constitution to establish a secular, democratic system for the benefit of the general public, but lamented, that such controversial statements like the one made by Mohan Bhagwat was a well thought-out deign to rob off the very spirit of the constitution, about which every citizen who loved his/her country needed to be vigilant against the divisive politics, he said.
