Ammendment to Delhi Gurudwara Act could disturb Punjab’s peace, says CM Badal

Tarn Taran/Punjab (October 20, 2012): According to media reports Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has warned that the move to amend the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Act, 1971, could “disturb hard-earned peace” of the state and asked the Congress leadership “to refrain from playing with fire”.

“The proposed move to amend the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Act, 1971 by Congress government in Delhi is a testimony to the fact that Congress is meddling in religious affairs of Sikhs, thereby inciting their religious passions, which can never be tolerated,” Parkash S. Badal reportedly alleged while talking to media persons at Bhikhiwind (Tarn Taran) after inaugurating the Punjab Institute of Technology here.

According to reports Badal said that he would soon meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde for seeking their immediate intervention in the matter so that the issue could be tackled well before it snowballed into a major political issue.
