Uttrakhand, India: Sikh preacher Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal reportedly met Uttrakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat in recent days. Baba Daduwal who was accompanied by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Partap Singh Bajwa, demanded the reconstruction of Gurdwara Gian Godri Sahib in Haridwar. The historic Gurdwara Sahib was demolished by Hindu mobs during November 1984 Sikh Genocide.
Baba Daduwal, who is president of ‘Panthic Sewa Lehar’, said: “We are willing to work with like-minded persons. There was a BJP government in Uttarakhand till 2012, but neither the SGPC nor the Akalis talked about Sikh rights. Now the Congress government has assured us that it will build a Gurdwara at the same site.”
He claimed that Uttarakhand’s Congress CM had agreed to hand over the land for reconstructing the Gurdwara.
SGPC official Daljit Singh Bedi said: “The charge that the SGPC did not take up the issue is baseless. When HN Bahuguna was CM, we had approached the government. We were assured that we will be given back the Gurdwara land.”
Gurdwara Gian Godari Sahib symbolized visit of Guru Nanak Ji to Haridwar where Guru Sahib condemned the ‘karam kaad’ of Hinduism.
