Canada,Windsor- In commemoration of valor and sacrifice, the Windsor Sikh community gathered at Gurdwara Sahib yesterday to unveil the much-anticipated book “Kaurnama: Kharkoo Sangharsh Dian Shaheed Bibian Dee Gatha.” This historic event unfolded during a Shaheedi Samagam, dedicated to the memory of Shaheed Bhai Paramjit Singh Panjwar, on 12 May.

Authored by Baljinder Singh Kotbhara under the guidance of Panth Sewak Bhai Daljit Singh, “Kaurnama” stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of Sikh women who laid down their lives during the Sikh freedom movement of the 1980s-1990s. The brainchild of the Shaheed Bhai Paramjit Singh Panwar, the book illuminates the hitherto untold stories of these courageous souls.

The book’s journey began in village Panjwar, Tarn Taran district, Punjab, where it was unveiled on 6 May during a Shaheedi Samagam. Noteably, Bhai Panjwar was assassinated in Lahore, Pakistan, on 6 May 2023, where he had been living in exile.

The Windsor Shaheedi Samagam served as a tribute to Bhai Paramjit Singh’s legacy, with Dal Khalsa’s acting president, Paramjit Singh Mand, delivering a stirring eulogy. Paramjit Singh Mand praised “Kaurnama” as a poignant and invaluable effort to immortalize the bravery and sacrifice of Shaheed Sikh women, underscoring its significance in preserving the rich tapestry of Sikh history.

As the pages of “Kaurnama” unfold, they offer not only a narrative of courage and sacrifice but also a profound reflection of resilience and unwavering faith. In honoring the memory of Shaheed Bhai Paramjit Singh Panjwar and the Shaheed Bibian, the Windsor Sikh community reaffirms its commitment to preserving the legacy of those who gave their all for justice and freedom.
