Chandigarh issue: Chandumajra want “Original residents”, not outsiders, to be consulted

Moga, Punjab (June 16, 2014): Speaking first ever fair and loud in favour of Punjab on the issue of transferring Chandigarh to Punjab, Anadpur Sahib MP Prem Singh Chandumajra asked to ask original residents of Chandigarh not outsiders whether they want to live in Chandigarh or not.

While advocating for transferring Chandigarh to Punjab during a live talk on Zee Punjabi news channel on Monday evening (June 16, 2014), Chandumajra asked those people, who were talking of conducting opinion poll in Chandigarh on the issue of transferring Chandigarh to Punjab, that why this opinion poll now why was not conduct at that time when Haryana was formed.

“It is not fair to ask those people who are outsiders but not the original inhabitants of Chandigarh after five decades. Why the government did not conducted such opinion poll in 1966?”, he questioned.

He further questioned that the union government did not conducted any opinion poll while forming Telangana and some other states. It is a partiality and injustice with Punjab, he added.
