Sangrur: Makers of “Dastan-E-Sirhind” film have announced the release of the controversial movie next month. Earlier the release of this film was stopped due to massive protests and opposition by the Sikh sangat. Altered by the recent announcement by the film makers, the Sikh Jatha Malwa contacted cinema houses in Sangrur and informed them about Sangat’s order to not to screen this film as it violates established Sikh tenets against personification of Sahibzadas.
It is notable that personification of Sikh Guru Sahib and Sahibzadas is strictly prohibited in Sikh tradition. Film Dastan-E-Sirhind violates this tradition as it shows the characters of Sahibzadas in this movie.
It is notable that the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee has also passed a resolution forbidding personification of Sikh Guru Sahibs, family members of Guru Sahib- including Sahibzadey, in films, dramas etc.
