Bathinda, Punjab: Sirsa based controversial godman, who is facing rape and murder charges in CBI court, may come to Punjab as there are reports that dera Sirsa circiles in Malwa region are pro-active to hold a major function in Bathinda. Controversial dera head named Gurmeet Ram Rahim did not visit Punjab since early 2007 when he had attempted to personify himself as tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Dressed as Guru Sahib, Ram Rahim had attempted to copy the pious Sikh ceremony called Amrit Sanskar.
Dera head’s activities had triggered wide-spread outrage against Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS) among the Sikhs. An edict was finally issued by Akal Takht Sahib against the cult and it’s head. The dera head was also booked for blasphemy but the case was withdrawn by the Punjab police as per directions from the Punjab government.
As per reports, Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS) political wing is actively securing resolutions from village Panchayats requesting Dera head to hold a function against social evils such as female foeticide and drugs in Bathinda region.
Dera’s move coincides Dera Sauda Sirsa head’s statement showering praise for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dera head’s statement came after Narendra Modi’s recent election rally in Karnal (Haryana).
Sikh circles of Punjab have already expressed displeasure over the role of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) led Punjab government in 2007 Bathinda case against dera Sirsa head.
There are strong apprehensions that Dera head’s visit to Punjab would lead to major disturbance.
