Twandi Sabo, Bathinda: Guru Kashi University (GKU) Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda has launched “Certificate course in Gatka Coaching” from this academic year. Candidates can apply in University College of Physical Education till 31st July, 2015, reads a press release by Gatka Federation.
Making an announcement about the Certificate course, Dr. N.S. Malhi, Vice Chancellor GKU said this one year academic course has been commenced with the help of Gatka Federation of India (GFI), a sports organisation promoting the traditional art as a sport in Indian subcontinent.
He said 10+2 pass students can get admission in this course having course fee Rs. 5000 per semester only. He informed that candidates can call at toll free number 1800 1802 601 or fill online applications at university website. Hostel facility is available for students in the university campus”, he said.
Elaborating the benefits of Gatka training course, he said it would be useful for certificate holders to impart certified coaching/training to players and getting jobs in India and abroad as a Gatka instructor/trainer in educational institutions and sports departments. Besides, certificate holders could run their professional coaching academies/centers and avail affiliation from Gatka Federation of India or recognised Gatka Associations. “A placement cell is being set up by the GFI to facilitate the trained diploma/certificate holders”, he added.
Dr. Malhi also informed that GFI president Harcharn Singh Bhullar IPS and General Secretary Harjeet Singh Grewal has assured the university to provide all help in this regard to promote this ancient art and sport at academic and research level.
