New Delhi, India (June 20, 2014): It is learnt that the Aam Admi Party (AAP) MP from Sangrur (Punjab) Bhagwant Mann has offered to go to the trouble-torn Iran if Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sends him as an official emissary.
Bhagwant Mann on Thursday (June 19) said, “I am ready to go to Iraq to get the kidnapped Punjabis back if PM sends me along with Indian Air Force. I hope to negotiate with the Iraqi kidnappers for the safe return of kidnapped Punjabis.” Bhagwant has also said that if Union does not send him, then Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal should go.
He asked Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to make earnest efforts to bring back the Punjabis. Castigating Badal over Punjabis going to Iraq, Bhagwant said, “the situation has come to such a pass that Punjabis are going to troubled Iraq for living leaving behind Punjab and our government needs to introspect that why our children are going to such risky places to earn living and it showcases that Punjab is becoming worst than Iraq.”
There are around 52 Punjabis who have reportedly been abducted by militants in Iraq. Punjab government yesterday relased list providing details of these 52 persons, whose life is considered to be in danger in the trouble torn country.
