Amritsar, Punjab (November 16, 2013): It is learnt that more than two thousand Sikh yatris left for Nankana Sahib in three special trains from Atari Railway station on November 15, 2013. This comprised a 774-member jatha by Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC). These Sikhs shall be taking part in Samagams related to Parkash Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji.
As per media reports the jatha was flagged off by the SGPC officials from Teja Singh Samundari Hall (Amritsar) which happens to be the head-office of SGPC.
Speaking on the occasion, SGPC Secretary Dalmegh Singh hit out at the Pakistan High Commission for denying visas to 379 pilgrims, who were to be a part of their jatha, “without any reason”.
He said the denial of visa hurts the sentiments of the pilgrims who wish to pay obeisance at the historic gurdwaras in the neighbouring country.
The jatha will first reach Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib from where it will proceed to Gurdwara Sacha Sauda. It will return to Nankana Sahib the same evening to celebrate Gurpurb on November 17.
Later, the jatha members will head to Sri Panja Sahib on November 18.
The jatha will also visit Gurdwara Dehra Sahib in Lahore, Gurdwara Rori Sahib and Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib before returning to Punjab on November 24.
