New Delhi: After firstly taking Haryana’s favour during the hearing of controversial Satluj-Yamuna Link canal issue in the Supreme Court of India, and then retreating it’s and making announcement to support Punjab’s stance, now the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi has said that it is neutral on this issue.

Delhi government on Monday (April 25) distanced itself from the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal dispute as it submitted before the Supreme Court that it didn’t want to take sides but was more concerned about Delhi’s water share under the project.

Appearing for the Delhi government, senior advocate Indira Jaising told a constitution bench headed by justice AR Dave that the Delhi government would not go into the controversy of who was right.

Advo. Indira Jaising requested the court to ensure that Delhi’s share of water was protected under the law. The Supreme Court is hearing the Presidential Reference on the SYL dispute.

Notably, Aam Aadmi Party’s leadership in Punjab is repeatedly maintaining that the Aam Aadmi Party supports Punjab’s riparian rights, but the party’s submission in the Supreme Court of India has failed to reflect this stand.
