Amritsar/ Hoshiarpur: Dal Khalsa has announced to mark August 15, India’s Independence Day, as “Black Day”. Dal Khlasa president S. Harcharanjeet Singh Dhami said that Hindu and Muslim brethren attained freedom on August 14 and 15, 1947 respectably but Sikhs missed the opportunity and got trapped into another political subjugation.
He said that the Sikh nation is pursuing it’s struggle to regain political sovereignty and self-rule.

The Sikh body has called upon Sikh masses to boycott celebrations of Indian independence day and observe it as a black day.
Giving the call to Sikhs to observe 15th August as Black Day, Dal Khalsa president said that there was no reason for Sikhs to celebrate India’s Independence Day. Rather it should be a day to pledge to reinforce our efforts to break the shackles of slavery, he added. He said that their organisation was asking for the right of self-determination for the people of the state.
Dal Khalsa leader Dr. Manjinder Singh Jandi said that a protest demonstration will be held a Moga on August 15 to mark the day as “Black Day”.
Sikh Youth of Punjab president Paramjit Singh said that in a separate program on August 13 the Dal Khalsa and Sikh Youth of Punjab will observe “Freedom Determination Day”. A function in this regard will be organised in Jalandhar, he added.
