To maintain environmental and ecological balance it is necessary to keep 33% of land under trees. But only 6% of land surface of Punjab is covered by trees. Therefore adverse environmental changes are taking place in Punjab. A farmers’ joint family of Kalewal village near Suntanpur Lodhi has decided to return a portion of their land to nature by planting dense forest on it. A team of Agriculture and Environment Center visited Kalewal and met S. Nirmaljit Singh and his family members.
