Sangrur Lok Sabha Results: Simranjit Singh Mann trailing; Meet Hayer Likely to Win

Chandigarh: Simranjit Singh Mann, a three-time Member of Parliament, who was sitting MP from Sangrur, lost his seat Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate and Punjab cabinet minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer.

Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer won this election by security 364085 votes (36.06%). Sukhpal Singh Khiara of Indian National Congress (INC) bagged 191525 votes (18.97%) to last second. Simranjit Singh Mann ended up third with 187246 votes (18.55%).

Simranjit Singh Mann, a three-time Member of Parliament and the incumbent MP from Sangrur constituency, finds himself trailing behind Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate and Punjab cabinet minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer.

As per the latest figures released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), Simrajit Singh Mann has secured 73029 votes, while Meet Hayer has garnered an impressive 136452 votes, indicating a substantial lead for the AAP candidate.

The margin between the two contenders stands at 63423 votes, underscoring the considerable advantage held by Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer.

Simranjit Singh Mann, who also serves as the president of Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann), faces the prospect of losing his seat after winning the Sangrur by-election in 2022.
