New Delhi: As per the media reports both the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee and Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee here today decided to launch a movement from May 14 from Amritsar for the reconstruction of Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib on the banks of the Ganga at Hari Ki Pauri in Haridwar.
This announcement was made today at a joint meeting of SGPC president Kirpal Singh Badungar and DSGMC president Manjit Singh (GK) in Delhi. Both leaders appealed to the Sikhs in India and abroad to support the movement, said the media sources.
While interacting with the media Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar stated that the government was trying to end the history of Sikh valour and of those freedom fighters who died in jail known as “Kala Pani” in Nicobar Islands. A majority of the jail inmates in Nicobar were Sikhs, he further said.
Moreover, he said that that to launch the movement, Japji Sahib would be recited from Gurdwara Manji Sahib in Amritsar and Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi at 9 am on May 14 along with other gurdwaras across the world.
Furthermore, Manjit Singh GK reportedly said to celebrate the 550th Parkash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Jji in 2019 at Gurdwara Gyan Godri, the SGPC and the DSGMC were in contact with Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand governments for getting the land.
