Bhai Sukha-Jinda’s act of punishing the general of the invaders’ was recognized according to historic Sikh traditions by the Sikh panth and they were declared “National Sikh Martyrs”. Their martyrdom day is annually marked at Akal Takht Sahib.

According to information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) the Akhand Paath Sahib (continuous recitation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji) started in the vicinity of Akal Takht Sahib on 7 October and the bhog shall be held on October 09.

It is notable that Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda and Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha had admitted that they had assassinated Arun Vaidya. They did not appeal against the court’s decision to sentence them to death. They had written letter to the then President of India, that is considered to be an important document of the Sikh struggle for freedom.
