Mohali: A Special NIA Court in Mohali yesterday (on Jan. 9) sent Ramandeep Singh Bagga and Hardeep Singh Shera to Maximum Security Jail in Nabha under judicial custody. Duo were presented before the court of Additional Sessions Judge I Ms. Anshul Berry (under case no. RC/22/DLI/17) who sent them under judicial custody after the NIA did ask for further police remand.

The NIA also informed the court that a statement Hardeep Singh Shera was recorded under section 164 Cr. P. C. before a Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in New Delhi after he was last sent under police custody by the Mohali NIA court.

The defence counsel Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur has raised questions over the alleged statement of Hardeep Singh Shera. He said that no legal representation was given to Hardeep Singh Shera when his statement was recorded before CMC court in New Delhi. The issue is likely to be considered on merit by the NIA court at a later stage.
