Jalandhar, Punjab: There are reports in media that Pradesh Congress spokesperson and former Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira might join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). A The Tribune (TT) news report maintains that Sukhpal Khaira was seriously considering joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Sukhpal Khaira, a bitter critic of the Badal-BJP ruling alliance, wrote on his Facebook wall (on Feb. 27): “Friends, today I held a small workers’ meeting of my area to ascertain the views of people who have been pressuring me to join AAP. I received an overwhelming response from them and I wish to know the sentiments of my friends across the world on FB as well. Please advise. (sic)”
TT report notes that Khaira has been feeling “suffocated” in the Congress for various reasons. He did not attended the Lalkar Rally of former Chief Minioster Capt Amarinder Singh in Amritsar.
“I do not want to be a part of any group in the party as it would only prove detrimental in the coming elections,” he had said then. The Congress has been decimated in the civic body elections.
Sukhpal Khaira is learnt to have held meetings with AAP’s state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur.
