Chandigarh: In a press note issued by the leader of opposition in the Punjab assembly and senior leader of the Punjab unit of the Aam Adami Party (AAP) Advocate H S Phoolka said that there has been no effect on the Transport Mafia in the state despite change of guards in the state.
The Mafia is still controlling the multi crores transport business in the state at the cost of state exchequer with the active connivance of the political leaders said H S Phoolka. Taking cognizance of the news report published in this regard he said that 5000 illegal routes granted by the previous Badal Government are still being allowed to operate by Amarinder Singh Government who has promised to end transport Mafia in their election manifesto.
Moreover, these private transporters are still being allowed to operate in heavy rush timing getting most remunerative routes from Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Bathinda to Chandigarh leaving less profitable routes to Public transport, Mr. Phoolka said. The average revenue of the PRTC per day still continues at Rs 1,05 crore bears a testimony that both Congress and Badal Dal are hand in gloves to control this transport Mafia, he adds.
