Visiting UK Citizen Arrested from Jalandhar by Baghapurana Police; Police Remand for 5 Days

Chandigarh/ Jalandhar: Days after arresting a Sikh youth after he landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, the Punjab police yesterday arrested a citizen of England from Jalandhar. Jagtar Singh, who was married about two weeks ago, was arrested Rama Mandi area in Jalandhar. Jagtar Singh was picked up by the police when he was at Rama Mandi with his wife and another relative.

“The police picked him up and dragged into a car. On being asked the police told his wife and accompanying relative to contact Faridkot district police”, a relative of Jagtar Singh from the side of his in-laws.

“It was only today we came to know that he was arrested by Baghapurana police” he added.

He further told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that Jagtar Singh’s family resides in England and they have informed the British authorities about Jagtar Singh’s arrest.

The relatives of Jagtar Singh claimed that the police was pressurising Jagtar Singh’s in-laws, especially his wife, to hand them over the passport of Jagtar Singh. “Police is threatening us to frame Jagtar’s wife if she do not hand over his passport to the police”, said Kuldeep Singh.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur informed Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that Jagtar Singh was presented by the police before a duty magistrate today who sent him on police remand for 5 days.

“It seems that Jagtar Singh is arrested in same case in which the police had arrested Taljit Singh of Jammu after his arrival from England” said Jaspal Singh Manjhpur adding that he could confirm the information after obtaining the documents.
